The Best Kajabi SEO Strategy To Improve Your Rankings

Written by Harrison Baron | Sep 5, 2021 4:00:00 AM

As someone who is ranking on the first page of google for a variety of keywords and my traffic is increasing week after week, it's time I share some of the strategies and techniques we use at my agency, Growth Generators, to grow our business.

If you're new to SEO and ranking blog posts on Kajabi, this blog will walk you through everything you need to do. I cover everything from what is SEO to the Kajabi SEO blog post process to help get valuable data from your Google Search Console.

The goal is to increase your organic traffic (free traffic from google) show up higher in search queries and attract more traffic to your website.

If you're looking to learn a proven and easy-to-follow process for ranking on Google check out my course here.

Let's dive in.

What is SEO?

SEO is Search Engine Optimization.

It's the process of making your website look appealing to google so it will rank you on the SERP or search engine results page. You know, the questions you type into google someone answered. It's Google's job to match your question to that answer the best it possibly can. The mission is to make your website look like a juicy steak to google so it sends you more traffic and you can convert those visitors to traffic.

Kajabi SEO is simple, and there are a few main areas on the website that you need to change. Those areas are the titles and meta descriptions. After that, visit the settings section and check your home and blog post area, and that's most of Kajabi SEO. For my veteran website builders, there are usually many more areas you would be able to upgrade or increase, but on Kajabi, you are limited to a few areas.

Now you might be thinking that can't be it. On Kajabi, there are a lot of limitations to increasing your SEO. It's severely limited, but for most Kajabi users, it's more than enough. I have proved you can drastically increase your search traffic and your visitors month after month following the process below.

I will define these as on-page and off-page SEO strategies and tactics. They are more technical areas on a website and can be a bit confusing; however, when done correctly, it's simple to start ranking for a variety of keywords. The website you're reading this blog on (my personal website) ranks for over 1000 keywords, and hundreds of them are showing pages on the first page of google.

The Kajabi SEO Process.

When you complete the first area below-called on-page SEO, that's almost it when it comes to Kajabi. Off-page SEO and content creation is a long-term game. It's something that can take years to master. The key to it all before you keep reading is to start early and keep working towards your goal. There is no secret hack, no master marketer magic, or anything like that. It's a well-built website with great content for people to read and link to. What I am covering in this article is everything you are going to need to do to start ranking your Kajabi website and what you need to do to keep ranking on it.

Seo is broken into three main sections. This goes for any website platform you are on. It doesn't just have to be Kajabi.

There are:

  • On-Page
  • Off-Page
  • Content Creation

Everything you are about to learn can be applied to every website, and you will have to go back into each area of your Kajabi website and make the necessary changes to gain the full SEO benefit.

When comparing Kajabi to other platforms, there are a few things to take into consideration. Compared to WordPress or Webflow, Kajabi offers about 80% of the key functionality you will need. There are a few things Kajabi can't do that most other platforms can. If you're familiar with those other platforms, don't stress. I have had some impressive success with Kajabi, and I am sure you will too. (especially if you follow all the steps in this blog) The stuff it's missing is really meant for the SEO geeks like myself.

There is a tremendous amount of technical information to cover on all three of these. I am going to do my best to cover them all without writing a novel, but there are no promises. If you choose to avoid reading a novel and would rather have a walk-through explanation of how to do SEO and want to follow along, I do offer a course here that will teach you everything from beginner basics to professional level techniques.

First, You Have Kajabi On-Page SEO.

This is the most important part when it comes to building website traffic to your Kajabi website. On-page SEO is the most technical part. This includes those titles I described before. Your titles should be anywhere from 50 – 70 characters long. In many cases, you may hear these referred to as SEO Page Titles.

If there is anything more than that, Google will truncate the title, and then the searcher can't see it. This also goes for your meta description.

Go through and add a mouthwatering description on the titles and meta descriptions. These two go hand in hand. It's the first thing someone will see when they are searching for information on google.

Without these, google will never show your website out. My team and I at my agency have built hundreds of websites, and many of them were customers who came from other competitors. They were confused why they weren't showing up on Google for their name!! This is because, without that data, Google has little to no trust in your website because you haven't even taken the first step to help it get found.

After that, you have a few more technical areas of on-page SEO that need to be covered.

The First Is Called Headings.

This is where when you type something into Kajabi, and you go to format it, it says Heading 1, Heading 2, and so on. Each page should only have one heading, and that is Heading 1 or H1. Every heading should be between 45-65 characters long.

They tell the reader what the page is about, which is the first thing Google looks at when trying to understand what's happening inside that page.

It's like the title of a book or movie. You should have an idea of what it's about with a quick glance. Remember the meta description I told you about before? That's like the back cover, which will give a bit more insight on what's inside for visitors to know about.

Headers are like scene shifts in a movie or book. It prefaces the next section with a heading that will give you inside details of what's going on in the next part. Google loves these because even though it will read the whole page, it knows the headers are the most important parts.

Headers are a tier system. You should have 1 heading one (h1), and just like in school, each heading should support the one above it. Check out this image to get a good idea of how it all works. I also have a video for you to check out that explains it better.

When headers are done correctly, each subheading should be supporting the heading above it. This is a critical part of SEO as it lets google know the page structure. I know this may seem silly or useless. However, you would be mistaken. Just like when you are arguing or conversing with someone, you want to support your original idea with smaller ideas. That same concept exists here. Not every page will have the same number. Every page will have one heading 1 (h1) and then a mix of the others.

The Last Part of the On-Page SEO Is Speed and Visitor Journey Optimization.

Google wants visitors to have a great experience when they visit your website. This doesn't mean more sales. This means people who found your website got what they were looking for. That could be a specific course, blog, or even FAQ answer. Your website has to load fast. With a majority of searches happening on mobile, it's important to use lower-resolution images. It may sound silly or dumb, but lower-resolution images will increase the speed at which your website loads. This makes visitors, and more importantly, mobile visitors, get to your website fast, and they are presented with appropriate information.

Google rolled out an algorithm update where they try to figure out the best possible customer journey and reward websites with visitors. You won't see much difference in images; however, your load speeds will be up, which is a good thing. If you're curious to test your website and the current criteria that Google is using to measure areas of your website, check it out here: https://web.dev/measure/

Keep in mind there is only so much you can do. If you're using Kajabi there isn't to much you can do other than use lower-resolution images on your website and don't use the fancy movements when people scroll. Videos will also slow down your website a lot.

The Second Part of SEO Is Off-Page SEO.

This is when you are driving visitors back to your website. When another website links back to your website, it's called a backlink. Google has said several times that backlinks are a critical part of a website's success. I know this may sound silly; however, by you getting these backlinks, it tells google more and more people trust you.

Not All Backlinks Are Created Equal.

Backlinks are essentially a vote of confidence from one website to another. Each website that points back to your website can positively or negatively affect your SEO and impact the speed that you get visitors and traffic back. Websites will have a domain authority score. Let me make a quick metaphor to explain them. Imagine you are a website about finance. You talk all about money, finances, and everything in between. You want to acquire backlinks. Now there are two websites that want to link to you or send you votes of confidence.

The two being a high school kid who just graduated and billionaire Warren Buffet. Both say you (the website) know a lot about finance. What link do you think is going to be stronger in Google's mind? Warren buffets because he has years of investing and financial knowledge behind him with a proven track record, unlike the high school kid. By them putting links on their website to you, it allows visitors to leave their website and visit your website, but Google looks at it in a way that says, wow, if you can get attention from a website like Warren Buffet, you must be a high quality and trustworthy website.

How Do You Get These Backlinks?

There is two main way to get backlinks. Organic and paid. Later on, in this blog, I am going to cover an in-depth process to getting traffic and blogging, but for now, I will cover the organic backlinks. There are several ways to acquire them. Here are the main ways: Links back to a great article, podcast guest appearance, link swap groups, social media mentions, YouTube mentions, other article mentions, and many more. These are all linked to your website.

It's also important to note that external and internal links can help you get backlinks. External links are links out to other websites and blogs. These are great to let the website owner know that you have given them a backlink, and if you have a blog post that may be relevant to their audience, they may give you a backlink. Internal links are also important to help visitors have a better user experience and show them where they can find information they may be looking for. Both of these are taken into account for your SEO ranking as well.

All Backlinks Are Classified as Do-Follow and No-Follow Links.

In the simplest way to put it, one is way better than the other. Some websites give out no-follow links, or it's not a strong enough mention to your website, and the other is a very strong link to your website. Either can come from many of the areas above, but no follow links typically are from more temporary like Facebook or social media, and follow links are usually from articles and other websites. Either way, both are good.

Your main goal is to get as many strong do-follow backlinks.

These will tell google your website is a strong website with great content and information that trusted websites like and appreciated.

You can pay for backlinks, but I need to warn you about this. This is against Google's terms of services, but there is a thriving industry behind it. Google does not want people buying backlinks. Suppose you are caught (it's very hard to get caught, but it can happen), Google can tank your search ranking and ultimately stop your online growth altogether.

How Do You Buy Backlinks?

The most obvious one is websites.

There are tons of websites out there that will sell links to you. Some are great and trustworthy, and others you need to be careful about. Some Facebook groups offer guest posts or "link insertion," where someone goes and puts your link in an article.

There are also PBN's or private blog networks that sell links. Please don't go buying from these.

If you don't know what you're doing, this can hurt you way more than help you. I go in-depth inside the course on how to buy these in a safe way that is going to help you and prevent you from getting bad backlinks. I only offer this as an option because this would be another 5000-10000 words if I had to go in-depth about backlinks. You would have the best benefit from seeing how to get these and avoiding the pitfalls that can come with them.

Once you have completed your Kajabi on-page SEO and prepared yourself for off-page SEO, it's all about keeping the momentum. I would be lying to you to say you're done. For most people, this is all they want, and that's fine, but to reap the rewards of free customers from Google, you have to do some work. This is where the magic happens, and if you follow this process correctly, you can have a thriving business where customers come to you for free!

Before I get into the meat and potatoes of content creation lets, paint a picture. If you get 1000 people to your website and you can get 10% of those visitors to give you emails, that would leave you with 100 email addresses. Figure 1%-5% of those people are going to buy. That means for every 1000 visitors; you can get 1-5 additional sales. If you create great content that targets profitable keywords, your first money will start at 1000 customers and grow monthly. This is what the math looks like if you can increase your visitors by 20% every month (super easy to do).

The chart starts you at 100 visitors per month. With a 10% email capture rate selling a $197 course you can see the difference between 1% and 5% buy rate. Keep in mind your website can grow faster than 20% per month, and you can increase all of the % on the chart if you dial in your captures. If you want to make a copy and play with your numbers, feel free to do it here! Only modify the data below the chart and plug your numbers in to see how you could be doing!

The Best Way to Get Google to Send You Traffic Is Blogging.

Simply put, blogging is an easy way to get Google to send you more and more traffic for a variety of "keywords" words that can drive traffic.

Blogging is good for two reasons.

The first is it gives you more pages on your website. Keep in mind not all pages are created equal on your website. Pages with a little text don't help you, while pages covered in information will. Each time you write an article, it's going to show up on your website, and those articles should be 750+ words. Many of them will probably be in the thousands depending on the kind of article you are writing. The goal of writing a blog is to cover everything the reader wants to know about the topic they googled. For example, with this article, my goal is to give you everything you need to know about SEO. In order to do this, the article had to be close to 4000 words because it's an in-depth topic, and I need to explain all the intricacies.

Once you write an article, it gets added to your website, and google does a few things.
It shows search engines that your website is still active and not dying or forgotten about.
It will show that you offer more than one type of product or service or reinforce what you provide.
It will also allow Google to provide answers to people's questions.

Just like this blog you are currently reading, you probably googled Kajabi SEO and were curious about how to get more visitors and customers to your website. Like I said earlier, this blog would be dozens of pages if I wrote in detail all the parts of Seo.

Blogging is great for your website but keep in mind Google is a zero-sum game. Google's job is to produce an answer to every question to its ability. What does that mean for you? That means that if you want to write about something, chances are good someone else already wrote about it. Depending on the popularity of the topics, the competitiveness of the keyword, it can be difficult to have your blog or website rank for what you want it to rank. This is where we have to migrate from a blog to the course. There is far too much for me to write on all the aspects of locating low-competition keywords with high search volumes. The easiest way to rank is to google what you want to write about and write a better article than the first spot on google. Over time Google will start to rank you higher and higher, and if your blog is better than the blog in the first spot on google, you may earn yourself the first spot. This spot gets about 70%+ of the clicks, so it's important to rank as high as possible. I always make a joke that the best place to hide a dead body is the second page of google. Think about it, who goes to the second page of google? Almost no one…

What I have covered so far is a great foundation for what you need to do to get started. It's that simple. I attached a video above, and I highly recommend you watch it as it goes in-depth on what you need to do to fulfill your Kajabi SEO.

What Happens After You Do All the SEO on Your Website?

You wait.

No, seriously, you're going to wait a while.

It takes google an average of 35 weeks to understand and rank your article where It belongs. It's a slow journey, but if you're writing content that is helpful to people naturally, they will begin to get on your email list and will eventually buy if they are interested. I always recommend that people try to write a blog per week or create a video per week. At the end of the year, you will end up with 52 pieces that provide valuable information to the readers and develop trust. Plus, when you rank on Google for Kajabi SEO and you help people with Kajabi SEO, it's pretty hard to deny the fact that SEO is helpful and can drive visitors, thus driving revenue. At my agency, we exclusively use SEO to drive more and more traffic to our website and thus bring in more and more customers. It took us over a year to develop the traffic and create the content, but now we write at least an article a week and know that it will, in turn, bring thousands of visitors to our website who are eager to learn, and some will buy.

You might be thinking, how does a blog actually get you customers, and why do you need to focus on creating more content.

Blogs Do Two Things. They Educate Visitors and Show You’re an Expert.

Over time your visitors will begin to trust you and what you do because you're creating content around topics they are curious about. It also gives you a library of answers to many questions you will get about your Kajabi website. We know people buy from people they know, like, and trust. This is a tremendously important topic because google will send visitors who are looking for what you have to offer.

Do you want to learn Kajabi SEO? you're in the right place. Once you read this article and watch the video, you will begin to know who I am, like me, because I provided value, and trust me because I show the process to follow to get more traffic. It's that simple. In turn, you may be curious to know more about SEO and all the nitty-gritty details behind it. That's why I offer my course. For the initiated and those ready to take action to get more customers, you can follow along with a step-by-step process.
